Green Policy
Why Green?
ArtsEkta is committed to making the Mela a greener experience for all. Being environmentally responsible is more important than ever in the world we live in today. With attendance figures of up to 25,000 in 2010 we are asking all festival attendees to help the us in our efforts to green the festival.
Waste & Recycling
General waste bins and recycling bins will be in place all around the festival site, and we encourage you to make use of these. In addition to this, litter pickers will be in action during the course of the Mela with half of them solely concentrating on disposing of recyclable ware. Please make their job easier – pick up and dispose of your own rubbish in the appropriate recycling bin!
Getting Here the Green Way
ArtsEkta encourage you to make use of public transport services that Belfast has on offer. Whether by train, bus, on foot or by bicycle – a little effort can make all the difference.
Traders
The festival has requested that all vendors participating in the festival use bio disposable products in an attempt to lower the festival’s carbon footprint.
Festival Signage
The festival team likes to get the most out of everything and that includes the festival signage. A concentrated effort is made to use and reuse all signage wherever possible, year after year.
